Co/ Extra-Curricular Activities
The Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programs engage students to pursue personal interests.
Performing Arts & Music
A growing number of The ISF Academy students participate in extracurricular music ensembles, speech, choir and other performing arts classes. Our students triumphed at the recent Interschool Putonghua Script and Recording Competition thanks to their creative dialogue writing and accurate delivery of spoken Mandarin. The ISF Academy choir performed for thousands at Tsim Sha Tsui’s Avenue of Stars during the Chinese New Year holidays.
Students’ achievements are also showcased in the school assemblies. Programs may include the following:
| Music |
Violin, Flute, African Drum, Percussion, Chinese orchestra, different kinds of bands |
| Art |
Drama, dance, choir |
Athletics
The ISF Academy’s athletic program emphasizes the values of teamwork, discipline, and individual growth. All students learn the Chinese martial art of wushu, and some have participated in local exhibitions showcasing their skills. As the students advance in their wushu level, they study the different schools of wushu and the philosophy behind each school. Wushu becomes a vehicle for acquiring an in-depth understanding of virtues deeply rooted in Chinese culture. Other sports activities at The ISF Academy include basketball, soccer, table-tennis, fencing, taekwondo, volleyball, swimming and track.
An annual Sports Day encourages participation with emphasis on sportsmanship. Students currently utilize extensive facilities at both the Queen Elizabeth Stadium and Hong Kong Football Club. Upon completion of the new campus at Pokfulam, the athletic program will be further developed with a view to fielding teams that can participate in intramural or local leagues.
The ISF Academy EVIDENCE
Whether it was skipping rope, running a relay, or cheering parents on in their own race, the students of The ISF Academy experienced the thrill of sports participation. They learned that as individuals and as a team, it is not whether you win or lose, but how they play that counts. |
Outdoor Education and Educational Trips
The ISF Academy students eagerly anticipate their annual camping trips and educational excursions.
Students in grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 enjoy outdoor education camps. Through overnight survival skills training on an isolated island or nearby territory, students experience the thrill of adventure within the safety of a professional group such as the DragonFly program. Students learn the power of teamwork and realize their individual strengths and capacity for challenges. They also grow to appreciate the beauty of nature in everything around them.. The celebration of life is an inspiring force that brings forth humility and vitality, stimulating young people to discover the endless wonders of this world.
As for other educational excursions, The ISF Academy students may go to some of the following locations:
| Grade 4: |
Macau |
| Grade 5: |
Taiwan |
| Grade 6: |
Beijing or Shanghai |
During these trips students delve beyond the usual sights to explore how students in rural areas are schooled, thus gaining perspective on their own learning opportunities. As with their education at The ISF Academy, they venture with a sense of inquiry, making observations and comparisons to discover and arrive at answers.
Upper Primary students also discover through outdoor education. Through overnight survival skills training on an isolated island to a rigorous Outward Bound program, students learn the power of teamwork and realize their individual strengths and capacity for challenges. They also grow to appreciate the beauty of nature in everything around us. The celebration of life is an inspiring force that brings forth humility and vitality, stimulating young people to discover the endless wonders of this world.
