Second Place in the Hong Kong Inter-School Team Chess Championship 2010

Only in its second year, The ISF Academy Primary Chess Team has placed second in the Hong Kong Inter-School Team Chess Championship 2010, held Sunday, 28 February 2010 at Island School.  Two of The Academy groups placed in the top ten out of 37 teams and two students placed in individual competition.  Marcus Au, Grade 5 Ren, came in fifth place and Geoffrey Hui, Grade 4Li, came in second in the groups. The team is currently preparing for The ISF Academy 2010 Chess Open to be held on campus on Saturday, March 27.

Third place in the Inter-Primary Schools Southern District Soccer Competition

On Sunday, December 20, 2009, twelve ISF Academy students led by our PE teacher Mr. Joseph Yeung participated in the Southern District 7-A-Side Inter-Primary Schools Soccer Competition co-organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Southern District Recreation and Sports Association. This was our first year participating in this competition which also saw a total of 9 teams. The winning team in each group entered the final, and then compete under the single elimination system.

Our students put in impressive performances time after time, they won the third place with 3 wins in 4 matches. Their hard work and efforts paid off and they were rewarded with a bronze medal, our very first from the Inter-Primary Schools Soccer Competition.

Mr. Yeung is delighted with the experience our players gained from participating in the competition and the opportunity they had to improve their skills.  Team spirit was at a high at the end of the competition and all look forward to more matches and next year’s competition.  We would also like to thank the parents who came to support their children and the school team.  Their encouragement from the sidelines proved a strong motivating force for our team.

The ISF Academy Athletics Team,  led by Mr. Joseph Yeung and Mr. Ray Yip, participated in two inter-school competitions in the First Semester and has achieved outstanding results. The ISF Academy Swimming Team participated in the Hong Kong Island West Area Inter-Primary Schools Swimming Competition 2009/10 on Saturday, October 17, 2009 and won prizes in seven events.  As a team we obtained a total of 16 medals (7 Gold; 1 Silver; and 8 Bronze), the best results we have in years!

Our ISF Academy spirit was clearly demonstrated, especially in the Girls A Grade Relay, where Our team led from start to finish.  Congratulations to our coaches, Mr. Liu and Mr. Lin, and our students, and thank you to all our parent helpers.  We are all very excited and happy with the team's performance.
