The ISF Academy Chinese Choral Speaking Team Placed No. 1 in Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
On December 15, 2009, The ISF Academy Chinese Choral Speaking Team won First Place in the 61th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival Grade 3 to 4 Putonghua Poetry Choral Speaking Competition in Urban Group 3. The assigned poem was “Spring in the Motherland”, abridged, by Tian Di. Adjudicating the competition was senior judge Ms Sun Guanlin, whose remarks on The ISF Academy Team are highly complimentary: “Accurate control of tone. Full of energy. Good alternation of expressions with impressive effects. Solo and choral speech blend well together and flow naturally. Actions are elegant and uniformed. Overall an excellent performance!”
The ISF Academy Chinese Choral Speaking consists of 35 students from Grade 3 and Grade 4, with 18 girls and 17 boys. The team was led by Grade 4 Chinese teacher Ms. Wong Ching Fung, with guidance from experienced speech specialist Ms. Heidi Zhang.
This is the first time The ISF Academy has competed in this category. The competition was not only a memorable experience for the students, it also taught them valuable lessons. During the three months of training, students learned the importance of discipline and manners, and they came to realize the value of endurance and team spirits. At the end, their efforts were recognized and rewarded; the championship had filled them with pride, confidence and a sense of belonging. We believe that the process is as important as the result, just as we firmly believe that children’s potential is limitless.
We would like to thank the students, teachers and parent volunteers for their hard work and contributions. The joy of success belongs to every member of The ISF Academy family.
