Fees & Tuition

The ISF Academy receives no government subsidies for the operation of the school. School fees are the mains to support the low teacher-student ratios and provide what ISF Academy deems as the best education for its students.

Annual tuition fees

The annual tuition for students from Grade 1 to Grade 5 for the 2007/08 school year is HK$105,000, payable in 10 equal installments.

The annual tuition for students from Grade 6 and above for the 2007/08 school year is HK$119,000, payable in 10 equal installments.

The first instalment of the Annual Tuition Fee is to be paid when the student accepts the offer of enrolment.  Subsequent instalments will be paid on the first bank working day of each month starting in October to June of the following year.

Tuition Fees are non-refundable.

School fees are non-refundable.

Composition Fee (formerly known as Annual Fee)

Each student pays an annual composition fee which goes towards the provision of materials for students such as text books, exercise books, workbooks, computer software and local field trips. For 2007/08, the Composition Fee for Grade 1 to 5 is $7,000 and the Composition Fee for Grade 6 and above is $9,000.

The Composition Fees are non-refundable.

Reservation Fees

Within 30 days of notification of admission, a Reservation Fee must be paid to secure a child's placement. The Reservation Fee will be credited to the total tuition. The Composition Fee and a capital contribution (see Capital Contribution Scheme below) must also be made at the same time.

This fee, though applicable to the total tuition, is not refundable if the student decides at a later date not to enroll.

The Capital Contribution Scheme

The Capital Contribution Scheme was established by The Independent School Foundation to allow the Board to assess funds for capital improvements such as new buildings and equipment, as well as enhancements to the school environment.

Each new student will be invited to join the Scheme and pay a capital contribution within 30 days of the issuance of the acceptance letter in one of the three ways as described in detail below:

  • The Capital Note
  • The General Capital Levy
  • The Annual Capital Levy

Option I. The Capital Note

The Capital Note is non-interest bearing and non-refundable. It is fully transferable one (1) year after its date of issuance or three (3) months after the date on which the Nominee ceases to be a student of any school operated by the ISF Academy, whichever date is the later. The transfer price will be agreed by the Note holder of the Capital Note and the transferee of the Capital Note, and subject to approval by ISF Academy. The Note holder will need to pay a transfer fee to ISF Academy. In addition, any profit derived from the transfer of the Capital Note will be shared between the Note holder and ISF Academy on an equal basis.

The Capital Notes are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parents interested in purchasing the Capital Note can download the Captial Note Form, and fax the form to 2235 4399 or email it to enquiry@isf.edu.hk. You may also choose to purchase the Capital Note from current holders.

Option II.  The General Capital Levy

The General Capital Levy is a one-time payment which is non-interest bearing and non-transferable.  It is presently $150,000.

It is refundable six years after the commencement date of the school year or three months after the date on which the Nominee ceases to be a student of any school operated by the Independent Schools Foundation, whichever date is later, but in either event no later than the three months after the date on which the student would have graduated from Grade 12.

The amount refunded will be the full amount paid to join the General Capital Levy Scheme less any outstanding fees or costs incurred by the student.

Option III. The Annual Capital Levy

The Annual Capital Levy is non-interest bearing, non-transferable and non-refundable.  New students will pay an Annual Capital Levy of $24,000 (subject to change) for the first year and a non-refundable Annual Capital Levy of HK$12,000 (subject to change) thereafter.

The amount of the Annual Capital Levy is subject to annual adjustment at the discretion of The ISF Academy.

Three months after the end of the academic year when the student graduates or voluntarily withdraws from The ISF Academy, HK$12,000 less any outstanding fees or costs incurred by the student will be refunded to the holder under this option.

Voluntary Withdrawal

Voluntary withdrawal of a child requires three months written notice to the school.

Additional Costs

  • Non-refundable application fee of HK$1,000
  • Portable hard-drive and consumables such as re-writable compact discs (optional)
