Principal’s Welcome
After being a Head of School in San Francisco for over 15 years, I returned to Beijing three years ago. More importantly, I returned to work in the classroom. Working with young people and accompanying them through their paths of learning, I am reminded of the reason I have continued as an educator all these years. A teacher is like a beacon shining out for students, illuminating life’s paths. Without this guiding light, young people may become lost. As an educator, it is my duty to burn this beacon brightly.
We live in a challenging and exciting world – a world where geographic distance is no longer a barrier, a world where communication and information are made readily accessible, where technology is a household word and where countries come to develop relationships that can be gentle or frictional. Young people living amidst these paradigm shifts must be ever more prepared for not only the present, but also for future adaptations in this dynamic world.
The Independent Schools Foundation Academy (The ISF Academy) offers a unique approach to education in Hong Kong. I am particularly attracted by The ISF Academy’s offer of high quality bilingual education with strong roots in Chinese culture. I believe Chinese culture can form a firm anchor for students to explore and to discover global knowledge amidst these tides of change. My goals for students are to develop firm foundations in moral values, critical thinking and respect for individualism, while embracing the fast pace of our societies.
As Principal of The ISF Academy, I am honored and excited to be given the opportunity to shine a light for our students as they attend “Tomorrow’s School Today”. I have made it my mission to work with the The ISF Academy community to bring forth generations of students in whom we shall take pride.
