Student Development
The Student Development Program
The Student Development Program (SDP) of The ISF Academy is an integrated and comprehensive program of structured courses, extra/co-curricular activities and guidance aimed at promoting the pursuit of excellence while instilling in our students persistence and resilience. Complementary to our academic program, the SDP offers opportunities for personal growth and talent development to ensure the development of a well-rounded individual. In this program, our younger students are exposed to a variety of activities to help identify their talents, while older students learn to focus on one or two areas as they continue to develop their passion with the aim of achieving excellence outside the classroom.
The broad range of activities provides challenge, competition and support through all 13 grades. Some are designed to promote students' social skills, creativity, critical thinking and study skills along with their interest and talents, while others provide a platform for character development and leadership training. Students are given opportunities to run their own clubs with guidance from their teachers and take an active leadership role in the management of the school.
Teachers are the main providers of these programs as instructors or facilitators and are assisted by outside specialists who are recruited to run some of the courses. They participate actively in students' non-academic activities as mentors. The SDP enables teachers to share their expertise and experiences with students who have the same interests.
