Exchange and Appreciation: Cantonese Opera –On Stage and Off Stage
The ISF Academy Chinese Cultural Center will continue to work with The HKU Cantonese Opera Research and Education Promotion Program to introduce this unique art form to our students and parents. A live lesson of Cantonese Opera will be held at The ISF Academy S.K. & Margaret Wong Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, from 10:50 to 12:40. Renowned actor Mr. Lee Long and his young colleagues to come to give us a close-up look at Cantonese Opera. They will introduce the basic elements of singing and narrating, how to put on the costumes, and various theatrical moves. We welcome all teachers, parents, students and other members of the community to join us in learning more about this local art form that has achieved World Heritage status.
Seminar: "A Turning Point: Reasons and Consequences of Liu Xiaobo’s Nobel Peace Prize"
Speaker: Mr. Bao Pu
Mr. Bao Pu has been following Chinese politics closely since the 1980s. After moving to Hong Kong, he has published a number of books on China's politics. Renowned for offering accurate information and deep insights into China's political situation today, his books were often on the top of bestseller lists in Hong Kong and have become "must buy” items for mainland visitors. The ISF Academy Chinese Cultural has invited Mr. Bao, as a long term observer of Chinese politics, to speak to our upper Secondary students, teachers and parents at The ISF Academy Clifford. C.F. Wong Secondary Library on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, from 11:36 a.m. to 12:36 p.m. During the seminar, Mr. Bao will introduce Mr. Liu Xiaobo's work in recent years and the potential impact of his Nobel Peace Prize on China's future. All teachers and parents who are interested in the topic are welcome to join the seminar.
